Golf

The Del Rio Country Club is home of the Elmer Sears Classic. The scenery in the area is outstanding. The course has many lakes and sand bunkers. Robert Muir Graves redesigned this course in 1978. Players are required to ride in carts which are included with the green fees. Green fees during the peek season are $30 for 18 holes on weekdays and $35 on weekends.

Parks

Brawley has 14 parks totaling more than 120 acres. This averages 6 acres of parkland per 1,000 people, the highest ratio in Southern California, making Brawley the envy of Imperial Valley. Brawley’s parks are lushly landscaped and well maintained, lending in part to Brawley’s reputation as the greenest city in the Imperial Valley. Brawley’s Park and Recreations Youth Programs are the finest Imperial County has to offer.

Cattle Call Rodeo

Each November the Imperial Valley hosts the Brawley Cattle Call Rodeo. It is a PRCA event with top cowboys from around the country. Cattle Call events include a chili cook off, cowboy poetry reading, mariachi night, a parade, a blue grass festival, and horsemanship competions

Sand Dunes

Twenty minutes away is Glamis and the Algodones Sand Dunes for cyclists and off road enthusiasts. Stretching 5 miles wide and 40 miles long and extending from the eastern edge of Imperial County into Mexico. This exceptionally beautiful area is very popular with film crews and has been host to well over 70 major movie productions

Hiking

Within 30 minutes is the Anza-Borrego desert for camping and hiking; Wiest and Ramer Lakes for swimming, jet skiing and boating                                                                                                                                                                  

Salton Sea

45 miles long, 25 miles wide and 250 feet below sea level. This salt lake is host to 4 species of sport fish, which include The Orange Mouth Corvina, Sargo, Tilapia and the Gulf Croaker. Sparkling in the desert sun, this is truly a birdwatchers delight, providing nesting grounds for the over 350 bird species on their migratory paths. A truly beautiful place to be as the sun rises and sets.

Bird Watching

Imperial Valley is host to 5 habitats for over 350 species of birds. The Salton Sea International Bird Festival will be held February 16-19th 200                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    

Fishing and hunting

In addition to the Salton Sea, where this photo was taken, The Colorado River is less than one hour away for boating, jet skiing and fishing. And a variety of locations around Brawley are perfect for duck hunting & Mourning doves & white winged doves Eurasian collard doves. Calipatria State prison & Centinela State prison brawley is 15 to 20 mins for state prison..

Geothermal Energy

The Salton Sea area supports 15 geothermal plants, generating 268 million watts of electricity and employing over 600 people. Among the wells is the "Vonderahe 1" which is one of the worlds hottest geothermal wells. It produces nearly 2.2 million pounds of hot water, enough to power a 30-megawatt power plant. These wells help California produce more geothermal energy than any state in the country. Townhouse Inn & Suites is the closest three star full service lodging facility to the geothermal fields.

Mesquite Mine Overlook Trail

This self - guided interpretive trail is about a quarter of a mile uphill with a great view of the mine the trail introduces visiter to the gold mine and unique desert environment salvation mountain, plaster city ,historic route 80, ocotillo wells state vehicular recreation
